Hello Kitty Money X Asakusa (浅草)
Dear Friends,

The Asakusa (浅草) shopping and tourist area of Tokyo is going partially in that direction as it’s going to be soon issuing real Hello Kitty Money that can be used in the area for exchange.

Asakusa is a part of Tokyo's downtown best known for its many temples, particularly Sensoji (浅草寺).It is known for being a “traditional” part of Tokyo, and old-style shops there draw in crowds of visitors.

It’s more of a marketing gimmick than an attempt at a real local currency, but with 500 participating shops it’s at least going to be widespread enough to make sense as a way to engage tourists and get them into the shops.

The sanrio online shop sells them from Dec.25.

H&M Shinsaibasi Store (H&M 心斎橋店)
Dear Friends,

H&M's First Osaka store open in Shinsaibashi on March 6, 2010.

H&M is a Swedish clothing company, known for its fast fashion clothing offerings for women, men, teenagers and children. It has around 2,000 stores in 35 different countries.

H&M Shinsaibasi Store

H&M Shinsaibashi store will be the core tenant in Marubeni's new "Luz Shinsaibashi (ラズ心斎橋)"seven-story complex near Ebisubashi (戎橋). H&M is expected to take up the first four floors.

Ebisubashi is just under the Glico Man billboard. Originally constructed to provide access to the nearby Ebisu Shrine, the bridge is a pick-up spot in Osaka, as well as the location of a legendary curse for Osaka baseball team, the Hanshin Tigers (阪神タイガース). More practically, the bridge provides a link between the Shinsaibashi-suji (心斎橋筋) and Ebisubashi-suji (戎橋筋)shopping districts.
